A Christian who hates Christianity

Speaking on the Activist Theology podcast, Talarico described his own relationship to his faith tradition in blunt terms, then said the revolutionary teachings of Jesus are what keep drawing him back to it.
“I always think of myself as a Christian who hates Christianity, right?”
Conservative assessment
The remark sits in stark contrast with the faith-forward way he presents himself politically. Crediting Jesus with drawing him back to church makes his attack on Christianity as an institution more pointed, not less consequential.
